Fire Sprinkler Co. sells, designs, customizes, installs, and services automatic
fire sprinkler systems and watermist & water mist systems.
Fine Water Mist technology is an nontraditional Halon replacement which relies
on relatively small droplet sprays to extinguish fire. Standard sprinklers have
relatively poor penetration capability into obstructed areas. It is designed to
control fires, but not necessarily extinguish them. Water mist systems require
far less water than sprinklers in extinguishing a fire. And, it has the capability
to completely extinguish some fires. Water mist may have the ability to hold a
fire in check and prevent it from spreading, thus controlling its growth. Advantages
of Water Mist System: it is nontoxic and has no environmental problems inexpensive
in contrast to other systems better than sprinkler in the following ways:
- utilize
water quantities a tenth or lower than sprinkler
- can
suppress flammable liquid
- pool
storage is easily facilitated
- water
damage eliminated
- non-electrically
conductive
More on Water Mist Systems There
are three main categories of sprinkler systems. 1.
Low pressure system – conventional watersprinkler system. Working-pressure below
10 bars. A certain type, called Mist Waterspray System, can be identified in this
group. This type of systems has at least 70-80 % water consumption compared to
the conventional watersprinkler system. 2.
Medium pressure system – mist waterspray system or watermist system. The pressure
range is from 10 up to 40 bars. The water consumption is at least 50-70 % of the
conventional watersprinkler system. 3.
Highpressure system – watermist or waterfog system. - The
pressure range is working from 40 bars up to 100/150/200 bars.
- The
difference between mist and fog is the size of the droplets.
- Fog
has in average smaller droplets than mist.
- A
highpressure waterfog system has advantages over the low- and medium pressure
systems
- Total
weight and the amount of water is reduced to a minimum.
-
Cooling effect is extreme high.
- The
grade of heat expansion.
- Sizes
of drain and scupper system is reduced to a minimum.
- Dimension
of pipes is small.
