President

Fred Mentz

 

Fred received a B. A. in Economics from L.S.U. in 1984.  Mr. Mentz assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer of Coastal Fire Protection at its inception and is responsible for day-to-day decisions.  Fred started his career in the fire protection industry in 1991 when he was hired by Herbert S. Hiller Corporation to assist engineering and architectural firms in the design of fire protection and gas detection systems for deepwater oil and gas platforms, and eventually moved in to the commercial fire sprinkler sector.

 

General Manager

Mark Sanderson

 

Mark has worked in the construction industry since 1995 and has a certificate in Computer-Aided Drafting from Houston Community College.  Mark has over 18 years in the fire sprinkler, fire alarm, and special hazards industry.  He worked for one of New Orleans’ largest General Contractors for 7 years.   During that time, he took part in projects totaling more than 100 million dollars, and developed strong experience and knowledge in managing the construction of multi-family residential projects, historic renovations, retail spaces, and educational facilities.  Mark rejoined Coastal in 2012 and oversees the operations of the Fire Sprinkler and Special Hazards Divisions particularly as it relates to design-build, negotiated, and government projects. 

Chief Financial Officer

Dan Modeen

 

Dan is a CPA and received two BS degrees in Finance and in Commercial Banking from Louisiana State University.  Dan has over 20 years experience in accounting and financial management.  Dan has been with CFP since 2003.

Office Manager/Human Resources

Helga Blank

 

Helga has been with Coastal Fire Protection since 1997.  Among her many duties, she is the human resource manager.

Purchasing

 

Michelle Barcelona

 

Michelle has been with Coastal Fire Protection for 18 years.  Her responsibilities include purchasing and service scheduling.

Sprinkler Production Superintendent

Troy Nunez

 

Troy started in the sprinkler industry in 1990.  He was a field foremen from 1994 to 2006 handling contracts and service work.  Troy became a field Superintendent in 2005 managing well over 40 field employees.  Over the years Troy has received several certifications ranging from NICET, OSHA, equipment/lift training, and several different manufacturer product certifications.

 

 

Mike Radecker

 

Production Superintendent, Baton Rouge Sprinkler Division

Mike started in the sprinkler industry in 1978.  He started as a helper / fitter and after only four years was promoted to a foreman.  He was a foreman for 21 years and installed a large variety of fire sprinkler systems ranging from chemical plants, box stores, schools, high-rise buildings, and hospitals.  Mike started with Coastal in 2003 and is responsible for managing ten to twenty field employees.  He has received several certifications arranging from NICET, OSHA, equipment/lift training, and several different manufacturer’s product certifications.

Special Hazard Production Superintendent

David Stahl

 

David has been with CFP for 14 years and is responsible for all installations for marine, off shore and land based special hazard systems. David has installed, tested and certified CO2, FM200, NOVEC, Foam, Fire Detection and Watermist systems. 

 

 

Brennen Brown

 

He received a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana State University prior to joining Coastal Fire Protection in 2017.  He is responsible for a wide range of estimating, sales, and preconstruction duties within Coastal’s Sprinkler and Special Hazards departments.

Eric Denhart

He graduated from LSU in 2017 with a bachelor’s in construction management. Eric started in the construction industry immediately after with a large general contractor in New Orleans. He spent a year and half in estimating and then another year as a project engineer on a large school in the New Orleans area. He then joined Coastal in August of 2020. He currently is responsible for estimating, sales, pre-construction as well as managing one of Coastal Fire Protection’s largest project Caesar’s Superdome.

 

 

Sprinkler Service Sales Manager

Darrell Juneau

 

Darrell Juneau also served at American Sprinkler prior to working for Coastal Fire Protection.  Darrell worked for 31 years at American in their Service division.  Darrell joined CFP in January, 2006 and functions in both a Service sales and management capacity.  Darrell overseas a crew of 5 to 7 workers focused on short term “day work”, inspections and short term service jobs.  Darrell’s service region includes South, Central and West Louisiana as well as projects in Florida and other adjoining states.

Fire Detection Sales Manager

 

John Walker

John has 17 years in the fire protection industry.  NICET certified in Fire Alarm, Suppression, and Sprinkler.  His duties include daily operations of fire detection projects and provides technical support & assistance for large projects.
